Food Delivery Breaks in Ways Generic Delivery Software Doesn’t
A parcel doesn’t get cold and a warehouse doesn’t have a 40-minute Friday rush. Food is the least forgiving vertical to build for, which is why the platform’s dispatch, menu, and commission logic were designed around it first.
The Order Lifecycle
Six states, every one of them visible to the customer, the restaurant, the rider, and your ops team.
- Step 01Order placedCustomer checks out; payment authorized and the restaurant is alerted.
- Step 02Restaurant acceptsKitchen confirms items and sets a prep time.
- Step 03Rider assignedDispatch picks a rider timed to the prep estimate.
- Step 04Picked upCounter handover confirmed in the rider app.
- Step 05En routeLive GPS and recalculated ETA shown to the customer.
- Step 06DeliveredProof of delivery captured; payouts queued.

How does prep-time-aware dispatch actually work? +
The restaurant sets or confirms a prep time when it accepts the order, and dispatch uses that figure alongside rider distance to decide when to assign. The aim is for the rider to arrive as the food is packed rather than idling at the counter or the food sitting under a lamp. Restaurants that consistently under- or over-estimate get flagged in ops reporting so you can correct the defaults.
Can riders carry more than one order at a time? +
Yes. Batching is configurable by zone, order value, and maximum detour, and riders see the full batch — distance, payout, prep times — before accepting. You can also turn batching off entirely for premium or single-drop offerings.
How are restaurant commissions and payouts handled? +
Commission is set per restaurant or per restaurant group, with optional different rates for pickup and delivery. Payouts run on the schedule you configure, with automated statements covering order revenue, commission, refunds, and adjustments. Multi-party splits between you, the restaurant, and the rider are handled by the payments layer.
What happens when a customer disputes an order? +
Refunds and partial refunds are handled from the admin dashboard, with reason codes and an audit trail on every action. You decide whether the cost lands on the platform or the restaurant, and the rule can be set per reason code so support agents aren't making that call case by case.
Can we launch in one city and expand later? +
That's the normal path. Zones, pricing, and commission rules are per-city configuration, so adding a second city is a setup task rather than a development one. Pricing tiers are based on order volume and city count, so cost scales with the business rather than up front.
